Bigelow, la ex de James Cameron, se llevó la primera estatuilla a una Directora con la película candidata menos vista en los últimos 50 años. Acumuló 6 óscars, entre ellos, el de mejor película,  “En Tierra Hostil”.

Avatar,  la más taquilera de la Historia, en cambio,  sólo se lleva 3: fotografía, efectos visuales y diseño artístico. Empatan Up, Crazy Heart,  y Precious con sólo 2 óscars.

Y Sandra Bullock, a lo Halle Berry, empalma el premio a la peor actriz con el de la mejor.

 Al menos Argentina se lleva a casa el premio de habla no inglesa.

The Academy Awards night of 2004 (celebrated in 2005) was a fight between two quite different movies: The Aviator, based on the Howard Hughes’  life and a self-portrait of the classical cinema and Million Dollar Baby, that gave the emotional accent and the controversy and finally obtained the Best Movie award. The Spanish movie The Sea Inside has a similar theme and also won as Foreign Language film.

La noche de los premios de la Academia de 2004 (celebrados en 2005) fue una contienda entre dos peliculas muy diferentes: El Aviador, basada en la  vida de Howard Hughes es un autorretrato del cine clásico. Million Dollar Baby puso el punto emocional y la controversia y finalmente se llevó el óscar a la mejor película. La española Mar Adentro, que aborda el mismo tema, se llevó el óscar a mejor Película de Habla no Inglesa.
